Obituary of Sharon Theresa Welton
SHARON WELTON-February 22, 1942-January 1, 2024
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Sharon Theresa Welton (Bostick) on Monday, January 1st, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Peter Bostick and Virgina (MacNeil) Bostick.
Sharon was a life-long Minto resident and graduated from Minto Memorial High School in 1960. After working various jobs, as a young adult, she married the love of her life, Enoch, and they raised two children. She settled in as a Post Mistress (Canada Post) for the next 44 years and retired in 2006. It was a busy household in Rothwell with the post office attached, many visitors (Helen, Wendell, Jenny, Agnes, Nancy, Gwen, Carla, Sharon, Shirley, Myrna, and, of course, Dick and Mary-Lou), and kids coming and going.
Sharon loved to play a good game of forty-fives with her long-time card partner, Linda Mills. Together they won several tournaments at the Minto Legion. She also cherished the 6-Person “Railroad” games and was always polite and kept her opinions to herself, lol.
Sharon is survived by her children; Rick Welton, (Tahnee), of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, and Mark Welton (Trudy), of Toronto, Ontario, brother Conrad (Murial) Bostick, of Airdrie, Alberta and several nieces and nephews. She especially adored her grandchildren, Dell, Dylan, and Dawson.
Sharon will be reunited with her husband, Enoch Welton, brothers, Peter, Johnny, and Willard, sister, Myrna, and long-time partner, Arnold Quigley.
We would like to acknowledge those that helped Sharon in her later years; Carla Elliot, Melvin Drisdale, and Linda Valanne-Rowe.
The Funeral Service and a Celebration of Life is postponed to a date in the summer. For those feeling generous, donations to the Minto Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 12 are welcomed.
Sharon will be remembered for the laughter and joy she brought into the world, her quick wit, and her creative vocabulary. May she rest in eternal peace and laughter.
